NFL Rumors: Update On Dolphins' Jalen Ramsey Trade Talks

Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey during 2024 game.

A Jalen Ramsey trade isn't happening just yet, but the clock is quietly ticking.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Miami Dolphins and Ramsey have “mutually agreed” that it’s time to move on, though a deal is not imminent. The Dolphins are expected to wait until after June 1 to pull the trigger, when moving Ramsey would save the team nearly $10 million against the salary cap.

Until then, Miami seems content to field offers and plan their next move carefully.

Dolphins general manager Chris Grier confirmed they’ve had conversations with teams and are willing to make a deal “at the appropriate time.” Ramsey, a seven-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro, remains a top-tier cornerback, but with a $16.6 million cap hit and a $24.2 million salary due this year, any trade will require some financial finessing.

Rams Eyeing Ramsey Reunion

The Los Angeles Rams are keeping a close eye on the situation — and they’re not being subtle about it.

Rapoport and multiple reports have confirmed that the Rams, who traded Ramsey away two years ago, would love to bring him back to SoFi Stadium. Head coach Sean McVay admitted there are “a lot of layers” to work through, especially around contract adjustments, but didn’t hide his interest in a possible reunion.

For a Rams team looking to fortify its secondary for another Super Bowl run, Ramsey would be a familiar and valuable addition.

He’d rejoin a defense that's been rebuilt with young stars up front, but still needs a true anchor at cornerback. If the Dolphins are motivated to move him post-June 1, don't be surprised if Los Angeles makes a serious push to bring one of McVay’s favorite players back home.
