NFL Rumors: Steelers Eyeing Two Quarterbacks
With uncertainty surrounding Aaron Rodgers—who remains undecided about playing in 2025—the team is reportedly showing serious interest in top prospects Shedeur Sanders and Jaxson Dart.
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, there’s “some love for Sanders picking at No. 21,” while Dart also has support inside the Steelers' building. Initially not planning to draft a quarterback in the first round, Pittsburgh is now preparing for the possibility that Sanders could unexpectedly slide down the board.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Steelers were caught off guard by the idea of Sanders dropping out of the top 10 and are now keeping all options open.
While a trade up remains unlikely, Schefter noted that Pittsburgh could pivot if Sanders is still available when they pick at No. 21. Sanders is coming off a standout season at Colorado, completing 74 percent of his passes for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns.
Dart, meanwhile, impressed in Lane Kiffin's system at Ole Miss, leading the country with 4,279 passing yards. Analyst Dan Orlovsky drew comparisons between Dart and Jalen Hurts, saying, “Every game I studied, I liked him more and more and more.”

Pittsburgh’s current quarterback room—Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson—doesn’t inspire much confidence in a division featuring Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson.
With D.K. Metcalf now on the roster and no clear signal-caller to get him the ball, the Steelers may feel pressured to act. While they could stand pat and hope one of their targets falls, they’ve also been linked to a potential trade up to get ahead of quarterback-needy teams like the Saints.
