NFL News: Insider Sparks Jets' Breece Hall Trade Rumors

Rich Cimini of ESPN has stirred some buzz around the New York Jets by suggesting that star running back Breece Hall could be traded—especially if Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty is available when the Jets pick seventh in the NFL Draft.

In his Sunday column, Cimini wrote, “Hall is a gifted player who would attract interest if dangled in trade talks. Perhaps the Jets would consider moving him if Boise State star Ashton Jeanty is available.”

Jeanty, a 2024 Heisman finalist with over 2,600 rushing yards, is widely viewed as the top running back in this year’s class and could tempt the Jets to make a bold pivot.

Cimini pointed to new head coach Aaron Glenn’s recent comments about adopting a three-running back committee as another signal of possible change.

“We have three running backs on this team that we’re going to utilize as much as possible,” Glenn said, referencing Hall, Braelon Allen, and Isaiah Davis. Hall, who’s entering a contract year in 2025, has seen his efficiency slip each season—from 5.8 yards per carry as a rookie to 4.2 last year. With Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson also due for extensions, Cimini noted, “It will be difficult to keep them all long term.”

Hall has been a key piece of the offense, totaling over 1,300 scrimmage yards in back-to-back seasons, but Glenn's approach and Hall’s declining efficiency may open the door to change.

Cimini even floated the idea that Glenn could be sending a message, writing, “Perhaps this is Glenn’s way of motivating a player who hasn’t reached his ceiling.”

Whether it’s a genuine trade possibility or just a public challenge, Cimini has certainly launched a conversation that could shape the Jets’ draft strategy—and Hall’s future.
