NFL Draft Rumors: New Team Surges Ahead As Favorites To Land Shedeur Sanders

The race to draft Shedeur Sanders is heating up, and a new frontrunner has emerged: the New Orleans Saints

Once longshots at +300, the Saints have surged to -130 betting favorites to select the Colorado quarterback, according to DraftKings.

The shift comes in the wake of news that Derek Carr is likely out for the season with a shoulder injury that may require surgery, leaving New Orleans in urgent need of a fresh direction at the most critical position on the field.

The buzz intensified when Deion Sanders, Shedeur's father and Colorado's head coach, reacted to the Saints’ No. 9 draft pick with the classic eyeball emoji on social media, fueling speculation.

Carr’s hefty contract, which runs through 2029 with $20.4 million guaranteed this year, has become a burden for a team already navigating cap challenges.

As Kellen Moore prepares for his first draft as an NFL head coach, the fit between Sanders’ quick-read, up-tempo style and Moore’s pass-heavy system has many analysts believing this match could be both natural and necessary.

While the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants have shown interest, and Sanders has already met with the Pittsburgh Steelers and will visit the Las Vegas Raiders, momentum clearly favors New Orleans.

As ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted, “The Saints are now a wild card in the Shedeur Sanders sweepstakes,” and that label may no longer do them justice. With fewer than two weeks to go before the draft kicks off in Green Bay, all signs—and odds—are pointing toward Sanders landing in the Big Easy.
