Is Breece Hall Done With Jets? Trade Rumors Swirl Ahead As NFL Draft Begins

Breece Hall may be on the move, and the timing couldn’t be more intriguing. As the 2025 NFL Draft kicks off, the New York Jets running back is at the center of trade speculation fueled by both league chatter and his own social media activity.

On Thursday morning, Hall posted a simple “🤞” emoji on X at 11:56 a.m. ET — and it didn’t take long for fans and insiders to start connecting the dots. Not long after, NFL insider Josina Anderson reported that “league sources” told her Hall’s potential availability has been discussed “within the last week and a half.”

That timing aligns with the Jets' preparation for a new era under head coach Aaron Glenn and GM Adam Peters — a regime that appears willing to reshape the roster, even if it means parting with former cornerstones.

Hall, a second-round pick in 2022, has been productive in New York, racking up over 3,600 yards from scrimmage and 22 total touchdowns in three seasons. But after an ACL tear in his rookie campaign, his numbers have gradually dipped. He averaged just 4.2 yards per carry in 2024 — a career low — and lost key touches, especially in short-yardage situations, to rookies Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis.

“We have three running backs on this team that we’re going to utilize as much as possible,” Glenn said in March at the NFL Annual League Meeting. “They’re all big men. They can run. They’re violent and physical.” That committee-minded approach raised eyebrows at the time, but now appears to be part of a shift happening.

According to reports, the Jets are open to trading Hall for a third- or fourth-round pick — an asking price that could appeal to several RB-needy teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pairing Hall with Jaylen Warren would create a dynamic one-two punch in Pittsburgh, but some argue it may be wiser to draft a rookie from this year’s stacked RB class on a cheaper four-year deal.
