BREAKING: Cardinals Make Trey McBride NFL's Highest-Paid Tight End

The Arizona Cardinals have signed Trey McBride to a record-setting extension that makes him the highest-paid tight end in NFL history.

The five-year, $83 million deal includes $52 million guaranteed, signaling just how much the franchise believes in McBride’s value to their offense.

It's a stunning rise for the former second-round pick out of Colorado State, who has rapidly emerged as one of the league’s most dynamic and dependable playmakers at his position.

McBride’s breakout 2024 season—featuring 96 catches for 1,071 yards and 7 touchdowns—turned heads across the league and convinced the Cardinals he’s a cornerstone piece for years to come.

Head coach Jonathan Gannon praised McBride’s relentless work ethic and impact on the field: “He brings it every day. He’s physical, he’s smart, and he makes everyone around him better.”

The tight end's ability to create mismatches and deliver in clutch moments has made him a favorite target for quarterback Kyler Murray, who called McBride “the ultimate safety valve.”

This deal sends a message that Arizona is serious about building around a core of young, ascending talent. With McBride locked in long-term, the Cardinals have secured a leader on and off the field—someone who sets the tone in the locker room and produces between the lines.

“It’s a blessing,” McBride said. “I love this team, this city, and I want to bring a championship here.”
