TRADE: Texans Acquire WR Christian Kirk From Jaguars
The Houston Texans have acquired wide receiver Christian Kirk from the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for a 2026 seventh-round pick, according to multiple reports.
The move comes just a day after Jacksonville announced plans to release Kirk when the new league year begins on March 12, but the team found a trade partner instead.
The seventh-round pick originally belonged to the Los Angeles Rams. Kirk, 28, is entering the final year of the four-year, $72 million contract he signed with Jacksonville in 2022 and was set to carry the team’s highest cap hit at $24.4 million in 2025.

Kirk had a breakout season in his first year with the Jaguars, posting career highs with 84 catches, 1,108 yards, and eight touchdowns.
However, injuries have plagued him since, as he missed a combined 14 games over the past two seasons due to a core muscle injury in 2023 and a broken collarbone last year.
Jacksonville reportedly explored trading him at last season’s deadline, but his injury prevented a deal from materializing.
The team also discussed a contract restructure to keep him in 2025, but negotiations fell short. Instead, Houston adds a veteran presence to a wide receiver corps that currently faces uncertainty.

The Texans’ wideout group has been in flux, with Stefon Diggs released and Tank Dell recovering from a serious knee injury that could sideline him for the entire 2025 season.
While Nico Collins remains the team's top receiver, he also missed time last year with a hamstring issue. Kirk now joins a Houston offense led by quarterback C.J. Stroud, providing an experienced and reliable target in the passing game.
