NFL Rumors: QB Jameis Winston Getting Close To Deal With New Team
With only Tommy DeVito currently under contract, the Giants have explored multiple veteran options, including Russell Wilson and Joe Flacco. They also have a standing offer to Aaron Rodgers, but the four-time MVP is waiting for an answer from the Minnesota Vikings and could retire if they decline.
Winston, 31, spent the 2024 season with the Cleveland Browns, starting seven games and throwing for 2,121 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. “They have a young roster that’s ready to win,” Winston said of the Giants earlier this year. “If the opportunity comes, absolutely.”

While Winston is on the Giants' radar, they are keeping their options open. They hold the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and could trade up for Miami’s Cam Ward.
However, with no guarantee of landing their preferred rookie, the team is weighing short-term alternatives. Winston’s inconsistency has followed him throughout his career, but his experience makes him an upgrade over DeVito.
He was benched in Cleveland after a three-interception game against Kansas City, marking his third straight multi-turnover performance, but he still finished with respectable numbers. In 105 career games, Winston has passed for 24,225 yards, 154 touchdowns, and 111 interceptions.

Meanwhile, the Browns remain in the quarterback market despite acquiring Kenny Pickett. The team has Wilson as its top target, though Kirk Cousins appears unlikely.
The Giants, facing competition for available quarterbacks, must decide whether to wait on Rodgers, pursue Winston or another veteran, or focus on the draft.
With Winston visiting this week, New York will get a closer look at a player who could help stabilize the position for the 2025 season.
