NFL Rumors: Aaron Rodgers 'Would Rather Retire' Than Sign With These 2 Teams

Aaron Rodgers’ future in the NFL remains uncertain as reports indicate he would rather retire than sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers or New York Giants.

According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Michael Silver, and Alec Lewis, Rodgers has put both teams on hold while waiting to see if the Minnesota Vikings will make him an offer. "If Minnesota ceases to be an option, it's also possible that Rodgers will turn down both the Steelers (a 2024 playoff team) and Giants and instead opt for retirement," the report states.

The four-time MVP has made it clear that the Vikings are his preferred destination, but conflicting reports suggest they may not be seriously considering him.

Minnesota won 14 games last season with Sam Darnold and boasts a strong roster featuring Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, T.J. Hockenson, and Aaron Jones.

However, the team drafted J.J. McCarthy in the first round and may not want to delay his development by bringing in Rodgers.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler described the Vikings' involvement as "loosely involved," while NFL insider Benjamin Allbright was more blunt, stating, "The Vikings have no interest in Aaron Rodgers despite his interest in them."

If Minnesota officially passes, Rodgers’ only remaining choices appear to be the Steelers, Giants, or retirement.

The Steelers and Giants have built their offseason plans around pursuing Rodgers, but neither situation seems to appeal to him.

Pittsburgh’s offense, under Arthur Smith, is built around the run game and play-action, a system Rodgers has never favored. The Giants’ quarterback situation remains unstable, and their offensive scheme has lacked consistency.

If Rodgers follows through on retirement, it would mark a stunning end to a Hall of Fame career, with his final decision potentially hinging on whether the Vikings make a last-minute move.
