Report: Travis Kelce Gives Update On Playing Future

Travis Kelce's future with the Kansas City Chiefs remains a major storyline as he approaches his 13th NFL season.

While there has been speculation about his potential retirement, multiple reports suggest he is leaning toward returning. NFL insider Dianna Russini recently stated on The Rich Eisen Show that "there’s definitely a sense that Travis is going to try to play more," and no one close to him has indicated he is seriously considering stepping away.

The Chiefs have reportedly set a March 14 deadline for his decision, as that is when his $11.5 million roster bonus is due.

Despite dealing with the physical toll of another long season, Kelce continues to be a vital part of Kansas City's offense. "I love the game, I love my teammates, and I love competing," Kelce said, making it clear he’s not ready to walk away just yet.

Kelce, 35, is coming off a season in which he posted 97 catches for 823 yards and three touchdowns, his lowest numbers since 2015.

Even so, Patrick Mahomes remains confident in his longtime target, saying, "He knows he still has a lot of football left in him." Head coach Andy Reid echoed that sentiment, adding, "He's playing at an extremely high level, and as long as he feels good, we’ll keep rolling."

The Chiefs have explored contingency plans, such as developing young tight ends, but Kelce's presence remains critical to their success. With his contract running through 2025, Kansas City could also consider adjusting his deal to secure him beyond that timeframe.

While Kelce has started preparing for life after football with media and entertainment ventures, he remains focused on another Super Bowl run.

His chemistry with Mahomes is still a major factor in the Chiefs’ offense, and his passion for the game clearly hasn't faded.

"I’ll know when it’s time, but right now, I’m having too much fun," he said on his New Heights podcast.
