Report: Myles Garrett Showing Interest In Another Team

Myles Garrett’s trade request from the Cleveland Browns has fueled speculation about his next destination, and a new team has emerged as a strong contender.

During Super Bowl media events, the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year was asked about the possibility of joining Washington and responded with enthusiasm. “Absolutely,” Garrett told ESPN’s Mina Kimes when asked about playing alongside rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.

“He looked great when we played them, and he really showed his behind in the playoffs. He can only continue to flourish.” Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Garrett laughed when asked about the Commanders before saying, “I think they need a pass rusher. That’s something they dearly missed in the playoffs, and I feel like I could fill that role.”

The Commanders have the resources to make a move for an elite talent like Garrett. Washington finished the 2024 season with a surprising 12-5 record and reached the NFC Championship, exceeding expectations in Daniels' first year.

With $78.1 million in cap space, the third-most in the NFL, they have the flexibility to add impact players. Their defense ranked 13th in yards allowed and 11th in sacks, with Dante Fowler Jr. leading the team with 10.5 sacks.

Garrett, who has recorded double-digit sacks in seven consecutive seasons, would provide the dominant edge presence Washington lacked in key moments last season.

The Browns insist they have no plans to trade Garrett, but his desire to leave could shift the situation. Reports indicate he has consulted LeBron James on how to navigate a trade request, noting a serious intent to control his future.

If Cleveland ultimately decides to move him, Washington appears to be one of his preferred landing spots.
