Report: Jets Gave Aaron Rodgers Very Specific Rule If He Wanted To Return In 2025
New head coach Aaron Glenn and GM Darren Mougey reportedly met with Rodgers after the season to lay out the conditions for his return. “If you’re going to be part of this team, you’re going to attend all of training camp. You’re not going to do Pat McAfee interviews anymore,” Russini said on The Scoop City Podcast.
The decision came after a 5-12 season in which Rodgers’ off-field presence, particularly his outspoken segments on McAfee’s show, became a source of controversy.

While the Jets saw this as a necessary step to bring stability to the team, Rodgers had reportedly already decided to leave.
His relationship with owner Woody Johnson had deteriorated, and there was growing frustration among teammates and coaches. His absence from mandatory minicamp, frequent media clashes, and rumored influence over team decisions—including speculation that he played a role in Robert Saleh’s firing—had created tension.
The demand to cut ties with McAfee may have been a final test of his commitment, but Rodgers was prepared to move on.

With the breakup official, the Jets are expected to designate Rodgers as a post-June 1 cut, allowing him to sign elsewhere.
Early speculation links him to the Tennessee Titans, who are looking for a veteran quarterback after a 3-14 season with Will Levis.
Rodgers has remained quiet about his next move, but many expect him to address the situation in the same place that helped create the controversy—the Pat McAfee Show.
