NFL Rumors: Best Fits For Myles Garrett After Trade Request

Myles Garrett has officially requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns, citing his desire to compete for a Super Bowl rather than endure another rebuild.

The reigning Defensive Player of the Year expressed gratitude for the Browns and their fans but made it clear he wants a new opportunity.

“The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton; it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl,” Garrett said. Browns GM Andrew Berry previously stated he wouldn’t trade Garrett, even for two first-round picks, but with the star pass rusher publicly pushing for an exit, teams are expected to test Cleveland’s resolve.

The Detroit Lions are a natural fit, boasting $46.5 million in cap space and a championship window after reaching the NFC Championship Game.

Pairing Garrett with Aidan Hutchinson would give Detroit an elite pass-rushing duo, strengthening a defense that ranked in the bottom third of the league in sacks last season.

Another strong contender is the Washington Commanders, who have the cap space and an ascending young quarterback in Jayden Daniels.

Head coach Dan Quinn would welcome a dominant edge rusher to anchor his defense, and with Daniels on a rookie contract, Washington has the financial flexibility to make a blockbuster move.

A dark-horse destination is the Buffalo Bills, who have been on the verge of a Super Bowl breakthrough but need defensive reinforcements.

Josh Allen has carried the team for years, but Buffalo’s defense has struggled to generate consistent pressure.

Adding Garrett to a defense that already features Matt Milano and Von Miller—if he returns to form—would give the Bills a serious chance to contend in an AFC loaded with elite quarterbacks.

While the Browns maintain they are not entertaining offers, Garrett’s request may make a trade inevitable, and whichever team lands him will be adding one of the most dominant defenders in the game.
