NFL Rumors: Steelers Pursuing Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence?
The rumor originated from Ryan Burr of Big Ten Network, who claimed the Steelers "made inquiries" about Lawrence, citing a source within the Jaguars organization. However, multiple reports have since refuted this, with Steelers insider Mark Kaboly and ESPN’s Michael DiRocco stating there was no truth to the claim.
A senior Steelers source told Steelers On SI, "There has never been nor was there at any time, implied or directly, any imposition about Trevor Lawrence." A Jaguars source dismissed the reports as "laughable."

Lawrence, 25, is set to remain the face of Jacksonville’s franchise after signing a five-year, $275 million contract extension.
New head coach Liam Coen made it clear that Lawrence is the foundation of the team’s offense, stating, "This will all be about Trevor. How do we make Trevor Lawrence and this offense as dynamic and explosive as we can be?"
Any trade would not only contradict Jacksonville’s long-term vision but also create a massive $100 million dead cap hit, making the idea unrealistic.
Despite the Jaguars’ disappointing 4-13 record in 2024, there is no indication they are considering parting with their franchise quarterback.

Meanwhile, the Steelers are focused on securing stability at the position, prioritizing Justin Fields as their top option.
They have also explored the possibility of signing Aaron Rodgers if he is released by the New York Jets, while veteran quarterbacks like Russell Wilson and Matthew Stafford remain in the conversation.
Though Lawrence’s name was mentioned in speculation, both Pittsburgh and Jacksonville sources have dismissed any trade scenario as baseless.
