NFL Trade Rumors: Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts to Return to Practice

The Philadelphia Eagles' franchise passer should be back in action for the postseason. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is expected back at practice today after missing the last two games of the regular season with a concussion.

Hurts suffered his head injury during the first half of the Eagles' 36-33 loss to the Washington Commanders in Week 16. He appeared woozy after a collision on a 13-yard run, and doctors quickly removed him from the game.

The Eagles comfortably won their final two games of the season by a margin of 61 to 20 without Hurts, but there should be no doubt he provides a substantial upgrade over backups Kenny Pickett and Tanner McKee. Hurts contributed 2903 passing yards, 630 rushing yards, and a combined 32 touchdowns this season as a dual-threat quarterback, and his Eagles finished with a 14-3 record for the second time in three seasons.

Still, regular season success doesn't always translate to playoff glory. Hurts has been notably inconsistent in the playoffs to this point in his career, sandwiching a glorious run to a Super Bowl berth in 2022 with disastrous first-round blowouts in 2021 and 2023. Which Hurts shows up could go a long way toward deciding the Eagles' fate this postseason.

The Eagles will have to hope Hurts is at his best for their Wildcard round showdown with the 11-6 Green Bay Packers. The two teams duelled in Week 1, and the Eagles escaped with a narrow 34-29 victory. The thrilling rematch kicks off Sunday at 4:30 PM ET.
