Jacksonville Jaguars Announce New Head Coach

The Jacksonville Jaguars have officially hired Liam Coen as their new head coach.

Coen, who had been set to become the NFL’s highest-paid offensive coordinator with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, shifted gears after Jacksonville reignited discussions following the dismissal of general manager Trent Baalke. 

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Coen informed Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles of his decision to pursue the head coaching opportunity before finalizing his move to Jacksonville.

Coen’s offensive pedigree made him an ideal candidate for the Jaguars, who are looking to rebound from a disappointing 4-13 season. 

As Tampa Bay’s offensive coordinator, Coen led a top-four unit that averaged 29.5 points per game and helped Baker Mayfield achieve career highs in passing yards, touchdowns, and completion rate. 

Owner Shad Khan’s decision to overhaul the leadership structure by parting ways with Baalke was key in securing Coen, whose vision aligns with the team’s goal of building a high-powered offense around young star Trevor Lawrence.

With his reputation as one of the NFL’s brightest offensive minds, Coen brings a proven ability to develop quarterbacks and design dynamic game plans.
