Report: Mike Vrabel Drawing Head Coaching Interest From Two Teams

Mike Vrabel, former Tennessee Titans head coach and most recently a consultant with the Cleveland Browns, has emerged as a leading candidate for head coaching vacancies, with the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints at the forefront of the pursuit.

Vrabel’s contract with the Browns expired on Monday, allowing him to immediately begin interviewing for open positions, giving him an early advantage in the hiring cycle.

Known for his strong leadership and team-building abilities, Vrabel boasts a 54-45 record from his six seasons with the Titans, where he earned Coach of the Year honors in 2021 and guided the team to an AFC Championship Game appearance.

The Jets have been vocal in their interest, with ESPN’s Rich Cimini reporting that Vrabel is willing to consider the job, provided he aligns with the team’s choice for general manager. As the Jets seek to rebound from another disappointing season, they see Vrabel as an ideal fit for his defensive expertise and reputation for instilling a winning culture.

Meanwhile, the Saints, who recently moved on from Dennis Allen, are making a strong push under GM Mickey Loomis, who values Vrabel’s track record of turning teams into playoff contenders.

“He’s exactly the kind of leader we need,” a source close to the Saints organization noted.

While other teams like the Chicago Bears, Las Vegas Raiders, and New England Patriots may also be in the mix, both the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints appear well-positioned to compete for Vrabel’s services.

Vrabel is said to prioritize teams with stable ownership and a clear plan for securing a quality quarterback, key factors that will influence his decision.
