Philadelphia Eagles Get Concerning News On Dallas Goedert

The Philadelphia Eagles received troubling news about star tight end Dallas Goedert after their 24-19 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.

Goedert, who caught three passes for 35 yards and a touchdown, exited in the fourth quarter with a knee injury sustained while blocking on a Saquon Barkley run.

An MRI confirmed the injury is not season-ending, but he is considered week-to-week and could potentially be placed on injured reserve, which would sideline him for at least four weeks.

If placed on IR, the earliest Goedert could return would be Week 18, just before the playoffs. Head coach Nick Sirianni acknowledged Goedert’s importance to the offense, stating, “There’s no replacing what Dallas brings, but we’re confident in our depth.”

This injury marks another setback in Goedert’s seven-year career, as he has already missed time this season due to a hamstring strain and has dealt with previous injuries, including a fractured forearm and shoulder issues.

Despite this, Goedert remains a critical part of the Eagles’ offensive scheme, serving as one of the team’s top targets alongside A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.

Backup tight end Grant Calcaterra has shown promise during Goedert’s prior absence, and Sirianni expressed confidence in his ability to step up, saying,

“What Grant’s done is just giving everybody the confidence in him that you can stay in 11 personnel. He’s shown he can contribute.”

With Goedert sidelined, the Eagles will lean heavily on Calcaterra, as well as options like veteran C.J. Uzomah and E.J. Jenkins, both of whom would need to be signed to the active roster.

Sirianni praised the tight end group’s depth and camaraderie, adding, “That room really cares about helping each other get better.”

As the Eagles push for the NFC’s top seed, maintaining their offensive rhythm will be vital as they prepare for matchups against the Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers.
