NFL Rumors: Garrett Wilson To Request Trade?

Garrett Wilson's future with the New York Jets is in question as frustrations continue to mount between him and quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Despite a solid season, with 1,053 yards on 97 catches, Wilson has expressed dissatisfaction over his role in the offense.

Following a Week 16 loss to the Rams, he remarked, “I’d like to be involved, love to make an impact on the game, but people see it differently. That’s out of my control,” a comment that has fueled growing speculation about his desire for a fresh start.

Sources close to Wilson believe he’s been frustrated with not being targeted despite being open on plays, a situation that worsened after the Jets acquired Davante Adams, Rodgers' longtime favorite target.

Since Adams' arrival, Wilson has seen fewer opportunities, with Adams receiving 20 more targets and becoming the focal point in crucial moments.

This shift has left Wilson wondering where he fits in the offense, with reports noting his growing frustration at Rodgers' lack of focus on him. While Wilson still leads the team in receiving yards, his production has tapered off, and there’s increasing sentiment that a trade request could be in his future.

“Wilson has been frustrated at the lack of looks from Rodgers while wondering what else he can do to fix the relationship,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported.

Wilson’s future likely hinges on Rodgers’ status with the team.

If Rodgers returns, Wilson could push for a trade, especially with other teams already expressing interest. While Wilson has not formally requested a trade, sources suggest it’s a strong possibility if the situation remains unchanged.

With new leadership likely coming in, and the Jets potentially looking to overhaul their roster, including pursuing a top quarterback in the draft, Wilson’s exit might become a reality, especially if it aligns with the team’s long-term vision.
