BREAKING: Diontae Johnson Claimed Off Waivers
Diontae Johnson has been claimed off waivers by the Houston Texans, marking his third team of the 2024 NFL season.
The move comes after the Texans lost both Tank Dell and Stefon Diggs to season-ending injuries, leaving a significant gap at the wide receiver position.
"We were in need of experienced playmaking ability, and Diontae gives us another weapon alongside Nico Collins as we prepare for the playoffs," said Texans’ general manager Nick Caserio. Johnson, who was waived by the Baltimore Ravens on December 20, brings potential upside to Houston’s offense as they head into their playoff push.

Johnson’s 2024 season has been full of turmoil, beginning with a solid stint with the Carolina Panthers where he recorded 31 catches for 363 yards and three touchdowns over seven games.
However, his trade to the Ravens in October proved less successful. In four games with Baltimore, Johnson caught just one pass for six yards and played only 40 snaps.
His frustrations led to a suspension after refusing to enter a game against the Philadelphia Eagles, and he was eventually excused from team activities, culminating in his release.

For Johnson, the Texans offer a fresh start and an opportunity to prove his value before becoming a free agent at season’s end.
Houston, which has already clinched the AFC South, is hoping Johnson can recapture the form that earned him a Pro Bowl nod with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021.
With their playoff spot secured, the Texans are betting on Johnson to provide a spark for their offense, making this acquisition an intriguing development as they prepare for their Christmas Day matchup against the Ravens.
