NFL Trade Rumors: New England Patriots Defensive Lineman Christian Barmore Back at Practice
#Patriots standout DT Christian Barmore, who hasn’t played this season as he dealt with blood clots and is on the non-football illness list, is likely to practice today for the first time since his medical condition was revealed, sources say.

At one point, Barmore's blood clot issue was considered potentially season-ending and even life-threatening. Returning to practice doesn't guarantee he'll be ready to play in the Patriots' Week 11 matchup with the Los Angeles Rams, but it's a positive step in his recovery.
Barmore is coming off a breakout 2023 season in which he notched career highs in sacks (8.5), tackles for loss (13), and quarterback hits (16). The Patriots eagerly extended him prior to his diagnosis, inking him to a four-year, $84 million deal in his first year of extension eligibility. He is presently the team's highest-paid player.
The Patriots have stumbled to a 3-7 record, and their 16 points per game are the second-fewest in the league, but there have been signs of life within the organization of late. Rookie quarterback Drake Maye has flashed potential as a runner, averaging an impressive 9.3 yards per attempt and 38.8 rushing yards per game. Their defense has also maintained its competence even without Barmore, allowing 22.0 points per game and 339.5 yards per game.
The Patriots' 2024 regular season is beyond saving, but they can content themselves with the knowledge that they're well-positioned for a productive 2025 season. Barmore's recovery is a feel-good story, but the Patriots should consider anything he brings to the table this season a bonus.
