NFL Trade Rumors: Dallas Cowboys to Place Quarterback Dak Prescott on Injured Reserve
The Dallas Cowboys' 2024 regular season may have just been dealt a fatal blow. According to owner Jerry Jones during an appearance on 1053 The Fan, three-time Pro Bowl quarterback Dak Prescott will likely be placed on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury suffered in Sunday's 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told @1053thefan said that QB Dak Prescott is likely to be placed on injured reserve due to his hamstring injury, which would sideline him a minimum of four games.

Prescott will miss a minimum of four games due to the injury, meaning he won't be available for crucial matchups against the Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans, Washington Commanders, and New York Giants.
Prescott's injury couldn't come at a worse time for the Cowboys. They're sitting on a 3-5 record, and a series of losses in the coming weeks will likely eliminate them from playoff contention. The NFL's November 5th trade deadline also means they'll be hard-pressed to acquire a capable alternative while Prescott is unavailable.
Accepting defeat in the 2024 regular season as soon as possible may ultimately help the Cowboys. Not only will it improve their draft capital heading into the offseason, but it may expedite a divorce from long-time head coach Mike McCarthy, who has been the subject of firing rumors since last year's early postseason exit.
McCarthy has clearly built a sustainable and effective organization in Dallas, accruing a 42-25 record through his first five seasons with the team. Unfortunately, that hasn't translated to postseason success, with only one playoff win since 2020. It may take some fresh blood to bust through that plateau.
