NFL Trade Rumors: 3 Landing Spots For Chase Young

With the NFL trade deadline approaching and a $72.8 million cap overage looming in 2025, the New Orleans Saints may look to trade defensive end Chase Young, who has emerged as a valuable asset.

The former third overall pick has recorded 30 pressures this season, making him a prime target for contending teams needing pass-rush support.

Saints GM Mickey Loomis has acknowledged that while he’s not keen on a roster overhaul, he’s open to offers that make strategic sense for New Orleans: “I’m not one who thinks that trading away half your roster makes a lot of sense, but we’ll respond if the right offer comes along.”

One potential landing spot is Detroit, where the Lions have an urgent need after losing Aidan Hutchinson to a season-ending injury.

Young’s edge-rushing skills would fill a crucial void and help sustain Detroit’s defensive intensity as they aim to stay competitive.

Head coach Dan Campbell has hinted at being active before the deadline, and Young’s presence could bolster Detroit’s pass rush significantly.

Another option is the Green Bay Packers, where Young would reunite with his former Ohio State defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley.

With the Packers’ defense struggling to generate consistent pressure on the edge, Young’s addition could offer valuable impact plays on key downs, especially as Green Bay tries to reassert its defensive identity.

A third intriguing fit is the Los Angeles Chargers, where Young could join forces with Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa.

The Chargers rank 28th in pass-rush win rate, and Young’s arrival would add needed depth and help preserve Bosa’s health down the stretch.

“If there’s a chance to improve our future with a strong offer, we’re open to it,” Loomis stated, as calls about Young come in from teams looking to boost their playoff push.
