NFL Rumors: Major Move Coming For Jaguars?

The Jacksonville Jaguars could be on the brink of significant organizational changes as pressure mounts on owner Shad Khan to address the team's struggles.

With a 2-8 record tied for the worst in the NFL, the Jaguars are preparing for a daunting Week 11 matchup against the Detroit Lions.

According to NFL insider Josina Anderson, Khan “prefers to wait” until the offseason to evaluate the futures of head coach Doug Pederson and general manager Trent Baalke but added that “change is possibly coming” if the team is blown out on Sunday.

Both Pederson and Baalke are under fire for Jacksonville's regression after a promising 2022 season that saw the team claim the AFC South title.

Pederson, hired to stabilize the franchise after the Urban Meyer debacle, now faces scrutiny for sloppy play and a league-worst turnover margin, compounded by the absence of star quarterback Trevor Lawrence due to injury.

Baalke, meanwhile, has been criticized for his draft decisions, including selecting Travon Walker over standout players like Aidan Hutchinson and Sauce Gardner.

While the team has unearthed promising talent like rookie receiver Brian Thomas Jr., the overall 23-38 record since 2021 reflects poorly on Baalke's tenure. As one source told Anderson, “Define fair in the NFL. This is a business.”

Sunday’s game against the Lions could mark a turning point for the franchise.

Facing a 14-point underdog status and backup quarterback Mac Jones at the helm, the Jaguars are up against a Detroit team that has scored 94 points in its last two home games.

A blowout loss could push Khan to expedite a leadership overhaul and lay the groundwork for a brighter future.
