NFL Rumors: Concerning Update On Tee Higgins Future With Bengals
Speaking on the situation, Palmer emphasized that this outcome has been anticipated for months, stating, “Tee Higgins is not going to be playing there next year. That is something I have been hearing since the combine, and it has never changed.”
Despite the Bengals’ hopes of making a Super Bowl run in 2024 with Higgins as a key piece of their offense, a disappointing 4-7 record entering their bye week has emphasized the challenges of their financial strategy and roster construction.

The primary reason for Higgins’ likely departure is Cincinnati’s looming salary cap constraints.
The team is set to allocate $67 million to quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase in 2025, leaving little room to retain another star receiver.
Higgins, currently playing on a $21.8 million franchise tag, has had a productive yet injury-shortened season, recording 38 receptions for 489 yards and four touchdowns in six games.
However, the Bengals also face significant defensive issues, ranking among the league’s worst in points and yards allowed. Palmer noted, “The plan was [they’d] have Tee this year, make a Super Bowl run, and then they can’t afford everybody.”

Higgins’ expected departure marks the end of a dynamic offensive trio and a shift in the Bengals’ roster-building strategy.
While the team prepares for life without him, Higgins will likely become one of the most sought-after free agents next spring, with teams like the Los Angeles Chargers, New England Patriots, and Washington Commanders poised to make competitive offers.
