Cincinnati Bengals Sign 3-Year Veteran Running Back
Brightwell, a former sixth-round pick by the New York Giants in the 2021 NFL Draft, brings versatility with experience in both offensive and special teams roles.
After working out for the Bengals alongside other free agents, including veteran Leonard Fournette, Brightwell "evidently stood out the most," according to Schultz, ultimately securing his place on the Bengals' roster.

He spent three seasons with the Giants, accumulating 164 rushing yards and a touchdown while making significant contributions on special teams.
Injuries impacted his recent career, as he was waived by New York with a hamstring issue in June.
Following brief stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars in the preseason and the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad, Brightwell was released by Cleveland in late October, providing him an opportunity to join the Bengals, who saw value in his multi-faceted skill set.
Though Cincinnati currently has four active running backs, including recent trade addition Khalil Herbert, Brightwell’s signing offers depth and flexibility.
