Trades to Make: Las Vegas Raiders Wide Receiver Jakobi Meyers

The NFL has seen several high-profile trades in recent weeks, but there's still time for teams to shake things up. In Trades to Make, we'll cover some of the best players who could be on the move before the November 5th trade deadline.

Wide Receiver Jakobi Meyers

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers is a reliable pass catcher on a team that's going nowhere. More importantly, he's a holdover from a previous regime. In 2023, then Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels signed Meyers to a three-year, $33 million deal due partly to their long history together on the New England Patriots. Now, McDaniels is long gone, and the 3-4 Raiders are just about ready to wave the white flag on their season.

Meyers is a former undrafted free agent whose college quarterbacking experience allows him to play the game with discipline and precision. He lacks elite traits, but he's a productive, heady chain-mover who would help a high-volume pass attack that already has a WR1 in place.

Who should be interested?

Meyers makes sense on a team that needs a pair of sure hands to flesh out their receiving corps, and he could likely be had for a late-round pick. Receiver-needy teams like the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers would both be good fits, but the Raiders are unlikely to do their AFC West rivals any favors. A reunion with the Patriots, who still have many of Meyers' former coaches and teammates in place, would also suit both parties.

Meyers could also help out any team that's looking to draw attention away from their top guy. The Pittsburgh Steelers could use someone to work the short and intermediate portions of the field opposite big play specialist George Pickens. The Dallas Cowboys also need to do something to turn around their suddenly struggling offense: After averaging an amazing 29.5 points per game from 2021 to 2023, they're down to 21.0 through six games this season.
