NFL Trade Rumors: New Favorite Emerging In Davante Adams Sweepstakes

A new favorite has emerged in the race to land superstar wide receiver Davante Adams, with the New Orleans Saints reportedly leading the pack.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Saints have surged ahead in the "Davante Adams sweepstakes" due to their aggressive pursuit and the presence of quarterback Derek Carr.

Adams and Carr share a strong connection from their time together at Fresno State and the Las Vegas Raiders, where Adams posted 100 catches for 1,516 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2022.

This familiarity, combined with the Saints' determination to upgrade their offense, has positioned them as the frontrunner for Adams.

While the New York Jets remain in contention because of Adams' history with Aaron Rodgers during their time together with the Green Bay Packers, the Saints have gained momentum.

Rodgers, coming off an Achilles injury, remains a draw for Adams, who values his comfort level with the quarterback and Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

However, New York’s struggles this season, including the firing of head coach Robert Saleh, have complicated their pursuit. In contrast, the Saints are reportedly more aggressive in their approach, with Fowler noting, "The Saints are at the top of the list" due to Adams’ trust in Carr.

One challenge for New Orleans is managing the financial aspect of the deal, as the Raiders have made it clear they do not want to retain any of Adams' nearly $17 million salary.

If the Saints can navigate the financial hurdles, Adams could provide a crucial boost to a passing offense that currently ranks 18th in the league, making this potential trade a key move for their playoff aspirations.
