NFL Trade Rumors: Baltimore Ravens Pursuing Las Vegas Raiders Wide Receiver Davante Adams

A new suitor has emerged in the Davante Adams bidding war. The three-time All-Pro and current Las Vegas Raider posted a cryptic image of Edgar Allan Poe to his Instagram Friday afternoon, hinting that something may be cooking between him and the Baltimore Ravens.

Poe is a historical figure and cultural icon in the Baltimore area. His signature poem, The Raven, inspired the Ravens' name, logo, and aesthetic.

Trade rumors about Adams have heated up over the past week, with the New York Jets emerging as a favorite to land the superstar. They start former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers and Adams were teammates from 2014 to 2021.

Still, it's not too late for the Ravens to get in the mix. The Raiders are free to trade Adams to the highest bidder, and the Ravens have a significant need for an elite pass catcher. They've spent three first-round picks on wide receivers since drafting quarterback Lamar Jackson in 2018 but have failed to develop a true star at the position. Jackson has already won two MVPs in his astonishing career, but the Ravens have failed to send a single wide receiver to a Pro Bowl in all the years Jackson has played for them.

Adams could change that in a hurry: He made six straight Pro Bowls from 2017 to 2022. He showed hints of decline in 2023, accounting for his lowest yards per game (67.3) and yards per target (6.5) since at least 2017, but some of that can be attributed to inconsistency at the Raiders quarterback position.

The Ravens have been a regular-season powerhouse under Jackson, winning 60 of his 81 starts. Unfortunately, that has yet to result in Super Bowl glory. Adams could be just what they need to take their offense to another level, and that alone could be enough to get over their postseason struggles.
