NFL Rumors: Top 5 Trade Candidates Entering Week 7

As the 2024 NFL trade deadline approaches, Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report has identified the top five trade candidates entering Week 7, with several big names potentially on the move in the coming weeks.

Leading the list is New York Giants edge rusher Azeez Ojulari, who has been a rotational player behind Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux but recently boosted his stock with a two-sack performance in Week 6.

Despite his talent, the Giants don’t view Ojulari as a long-term fit, making him an attractive option for teams like the Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons, both in need of pass-rushing help.

As Knox points out, “With Hutchinson and Davenport out, Detroit desperately needs a capable sack artist.”

Second on the list is Tennessee Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. With 14 catches for 175 yards and a touchdown this season, Hopkins could bring significant value to a contender, especially after players like Amari Cooper and Davante Adams were taken off the trade market.

Teams like the Kansas City Chiefs and Cleveland Browns are expected to be top suitors, with Knox noting that the Chiefs "badly" wanted Hopkins in the offseason, and a reunion with Deshaun Watson in Cleveland is a possibility.

The rest of the top five includes Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker, New York Jets edge rusher Haason Reddick, and Cleveland Browns cornerback Greg Newsome II.

Baker, a six-time Pro Bowler, is nearing free agency and could be a key defensive addition for the Lions or Philadelphia Eagles.

Reddick, despite ongoing contract talks with the Jets, is still a potential trade candidate for pass-rush-needy teams like the Cincinnati Bengals or Lions.

Newsome, with his affordable contract and reliable play, could help bolster the secondary of teams like the Los Angeles Chargers or Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they push for playoff contention.
