NFL Rumors: Chiefs Eyeing Trade For WR After Rashee Rice Injury

The Kansas City Chiefs are exploring trade options to strengthen their wide receiver corps following Rashee Rice's placement on injured reserve with a knee injury.

Rice, who leads the team with 288 receiving yards, is scheduled to undergo an arthroscopic procedure to determine the extent of the damage, with recovery estimates ranging from four weeks to as long as nine months.

As they await clarity on Rice's status, the Chiefs are considering several wide receiver options to bolster their offense, which could be vital to their hopes of defending their Super Bowl title.

Among the names being floated is Tennessee Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who the Chiefs "badly" wanted in free agency, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Hopkins ultimately signed a two-year, $26 million deal with the Titans, but with Tennessee off to a slow 1-3 start, Kansas City might "at least make the call" to inquire about his availability ahead of the November 5 trade deadline.

Hopkins, a five-time Pro Bowler, could bring a physical presence to the Chiefs' offense and would complement rookie speedster Xavier Worthy, who is now one of the few healthy options in Kansas City's receiving corps.

Las Vegas Raiders star Davante Adams has also been linked to trade rumors, but ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that a Chiefs-Adams deal is unlikely due to salary cap constraints and Adams' reluctance to play in Kansas City following a prior incident at Arrowhead Stadium.

With the Chiefs holding just under $4.8 million in cap space and Adams' remaining salary projecting at $12.2 million, acquiring him would require significant financial maneuvering.

As the Chiefs await updates on Rice's recovery, Hopkins has emerged as the more likely trade target to help them stay competitive in the crowded AFC playoff race.
