Pittsburgh Steelers Sign Longtime Eagles Running Back

The Pittsburgh Steelers have bolstered their practice squad by signing veteran running back Boston Scott, a longtime Philadelphia Eagle known for his versatility and knack for making key plays.

Originally drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Louisiana Tech, Scott was quickly picked up by the Eagles after being cut by the Saints.

Over six seasons in Philadelphia, he became a reliable contributor, amassing 1,295 rushing yards, 16 rushing touchdowns, 566 receiving yards, and an additional touchdown.

Scott also made his mark as a dependable kick returner, earning the nickname "Giant Killer" for his performances against the New York Giants, scoring 10 of his 17 career touchdowns against them.

Despite his past success, Scott's role with the Eagles diminished last season, leading to a reduced output of under 200 yards of total offense across 15 games.

After his contract ended in March 2024, Scott signed with the Los Angeles Rams, where he participated in training camp and the preseason. He proved his reliability by rushing for 157 yards on 36 carries and contributing as a kick returner, but was ultimately released during the Rams' final roster cuts.

The Steelers, in need of depth at running back and a boost in their special teams, moved quickly to sign the 29-year-old veteran to their practice squad.
