NFL Trade Rumors: Cardinals' 6-Time Pro Bowler Named Top Trade Candidate

Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report has ranked Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker as the second-highest trade target heading into Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season.

Baker, a six-time Pro Bowler, initially requested a trade during the 2023 offseason but later rescinded the request after receiving a pay raise from the Cardinals.

With his contract set to expire at the end of this season and no long-term extension in place, Baker's future in Arizona is uncertain.

If the Cardinals struggle early, Knox suggests the team may look to move Baker to save $15.1 million in cap space and acquire valuable assets for their rebuilding efforts.

Baker remains one of the NFL’s top defensive playmakers, despite missing five games last season, where he still recorded 87 tackles and five tackles for loss.

His leadership and versatility would make him an attractive option for any playoff contender looking to bolster its secondary.

Knox highlights the Detroit Lions, with $31.8 million in cap space, as a potential landing spot, where Baker could complement emerging talents like Brian Branch.

The Cincinnati Bengals, with $10.8 million in available cap room, are another team Knox suggests might pursue Baker, offering a long-term upgrade over Vonn Bell.

While Arizona might hesitate to trade their defensive leader early in the season, a slow start could push the Cardinals to explore their options. A

ny team acquiring Baker would likely need to negotiate a long-term extension, narrowing the field to those with the financial flexibility to make such a move.
