NFL Trade Rumors: Tennessee Titans Wide Receiver DeAndre Hopkins Suffers Knee Injury

The Tennessee Titans' training camp is off to a bad start. According to first-year head coach Brian Callahan during a Friday media availability, three-time All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins suffered a knee injury during practice and will miss "several weeks."

Callahan also noted that Hopkins will not require surgery, but NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Hopkins is likely out for at least four weeks as he recuperates. That should still allow the five-time Pro Bowler to be ready in time for the Titans' season opener against the Chicago Bears on September 8th.

Hopkins signed with the Titans as a free agent last offseason and immediately established himself as the alpha in their receiving corps, leading the team in receptions (75), receiving yards (1057), and receiving touchdowns (7). Unfortunately, that didn't translate to much success: the Titans finished 27th in points scored and 28th in yards gained in 2023.

If the Titans are going to improve on last year's struggles, they'll need Hopkins healthy. In free agency, the Titans inked former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley to a four-year, $92 million contract in the hopes of fielding a deeper group of pass catchers, but he won't offset any missed time from Hopkins. For second-year quarterback Will Levis to entrench himself as a franchise quarterback, he'll need his two finest wide receivers available. Even that may not be enough.
