NFL Trade Rumors: Lions Could Trade Running Back

Craig Reynolds, a veteran running back for the Detroit Lions, has emerged as a prime trade candidate this preseason, according to Ryan Fowler of Bleacher Report.

Despite being a reliable contributor over the past three seasons, Reynolds finds himself in a crowded backfield that includes established starters David Montgomery and rookie Jahmyr Gibbs.

The addition of fourth-round pick Sione Vaki, who has shown versatility as both a running back and safety during the preseason, has further complicated Reynolds' role on the team.

Reynolds has been a steady presence for the Lions, particularly during the 2023 season when he stepped up in the absence of Montgomery and Gibbs due to injuries.

However, with Vaki's impressive performance and ability to contribute on special teams, the Lions now have more flexibility in their roster.

This increased competition might make Reynolds expendable, as Detroit looks to optimize its roster by potentially opening spots for younger talent in other areas.

Given his experience, reliability, and versatility, Reynolds could attract interest from teams seeking depth at running back.

The decision to move Reynolds will likely depend on the health and performance of Montgomery and Gibbs as the regular season approaches, but his status as a key trade asset is becoming increasingly clear.
