Report: 5 Teams Attempted Trade For Brandon Aiyuk Before Draft

Before the 2024 NFL Draft, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk attracted significant interest from at least five NFL teams, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Florio revealed on The Pat McAfee Show that these teams were prepared to offer Aiyuk a lucrative contract, estimated at around $28 million per year. One of the teams interested was likely the New England Patriots, according to multiple reports.

Despite the substantial offers and the willingness of other teams to meet his contract demands, the 49ers were unable to finalize a trade deal, leaving Aiyuk with San Francisco.

Aiyuk, set to earn a base salary of $14.1 million in 2024 after the 49ers picked up his fifth-year option, officially requested a trade following stalled contract extension negotiations.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported that Aiyuk's request came after San Francisco failed to meet his desired terms.

Aiyuk's impressive 2023 season, where he recorded 75 receptions for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns, underscored his value and contributed to the strong interest from other teams willing to offer him a lucrative contract.

Despite Aiyuk's trade request and the interest from other teams, the 49ers, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, have "no intention" of trading him ahead of training camp.

General Manager John Lynch and Head Coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that trade discussions occurred during the draft but ultimately did not result in a deal.
