NFL Trade Rumors: Chicago Bears Sign Wide Receiver DJ Moore to Record-Breaking Extension

Wide receiver D.J. Moore has officially secured the bag. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Chicago Bears have reached an agreement on a four-year, $110 million extension that should keep the former Carolina Panther on the team through the 2029 season. Moore came to the Bears last offseason as part of the trade package that the Panthers exchanged for the 2023 NFL Draft's first overall pick. A little over a year later, the Bears now make Moore their highest-paid player in franchise history.

Moore deserves it. Already a star in Carolina, Moore levelled up during his first season in Chicago, setting career highs in receptions (96), receiving yards (1364), and total touchdowns (9). Still only 27 years old, it's still possible his best seasons are ahead of him.

Moore should be WR1 in what promises to be a deep group of pass catchers for the Bears. The Bears acquired six-time Pro Bowler Keenan Allen via trade from the Los Angeles Chargers in March and later added Washington standout Rome Odunze with the ninth overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft.

That trio should come in handy for the true centrepiece of that fateful trade with the Panthers: 2024 first-overall pick Caleb Williams. If the former USC product and Heisman Trophy winner can establish himself as a franchise quarterback, the Bears could end up on the winning side of the greatest trade in NFL history. With Moore, Allen, and Odunze helping him, Williams will have every chance to get off to a hot start.
