8-Year Veteran Running Back Announces Retirement

Kenyan Drake has officially announced his retirement from the NFL, concluding an eight-season career.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Drake expressed gratitude for his journey in the league, reflecting on the wins, memorable moments, camaraderie, and challenges he faced along the way.

"It's been an incredible ride," he wrote. "Hard to believe 8 seasons have come and gone. I've loved the journey -- the wins, the moments big and small, the camaraderie, the energy, all of it. ... Ready to enjoy a little retirement and see where the next chapter takes me."

Drake was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft after a successful college career at Alabama. With the Dolphins, he became a significant part of their special teams and rushing attack, most notably completing the "Miracle in Miami" play in 2018 to defeat the New England Patriots.

In 2019, he was traded to the Arizona Cardinals, where he achieved a career-high 955 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns the following year.

Drake later had stints with the Las Vegas Raiders, Baltimore Ravens, and Green Bay Packers, demonstrating resilience and versatility throughout his career.

Reflecting on his decision to retire, Drake shared with NFL insider Josina Anderson that he felt it was the right time to step away from the game.

He expressed his love for football but noted his discontent with the business side of the sport. Content with his choice, Drake is now looking forward to a new phase in life, appreciating his health and readiness to embrace what comes next.
