Las Vegas Raiders Cut Former First-Round Draft Pick

The Las Vegas Raiders have put together a solid offensive unit ahead of the 2023-24 NFL season, and after trading away Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller in the off-season, they looked to a former first-round pick to fill that void.

Now, the team have surprisingly waived tight end O.J. Howard, who many believed could step into that hole left by Waller, but now, it appears the team will go with veteran Austin Hooper and top draft pick Michael Mayer for the 2023 season.

The six-year veteran is still only 28-years old, with plenty more career to go, but in that time he's racked up a solid 129 catches for 1,882 yards and 17 Touchdowns, and while he may not have lived up to the first-round hype, he can be more than serviceable, so look for him to land on his feet in the very near future.
