Houston Texans Sign Defensive Tackle To Big 2-Year Deal
Defensive tackle Maliek Collins has agreed to a significant contract extension with the Houston Texans.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the deal is valued at $23 million over two years, with an impressive $20 million guaranteed. Collins, who joined the team in 2021 on a one-year contract, has decided to extend his stay in Houston, solidifying his presence until the 2025 season.

Despite his individual stats not standing out, Collins is highly regarded for his consistent contribution to the Texans' defensive line.
His presence on the interior enables the team's defensive ends to capitalize on sack opportunities. Pro Football Focus rankings for 2022 show Collins ranking among the top 20 interior linemen in both pressure and pass rush grades.

Last season, he recorded 37 tackles, 3.5 sacks, nine tackles for loss, 10 QB hits, and two passes defended, showcasing his value to the team.
At 28 years old, Collins is expected to be a key building block for Houston's defense in the upcoming seasons, adding to his accumulated career stats of 165 tackles and 20.5 sacks over seven years in the NFL.
