Pittsburgh Steelers Release Top Slot Cornerback
In a surprising move this offseason, veteran cornerback Arthur Maulet has requested and been granted his release from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The decision came after a reported disagreement over contract terms, with Maulet standing firm in his beliefs.
The Steelers had signed Maulet to a two-year contract extension worth $3.825 million, but a difference in expectations regarding his future with the team led to the parting of ways.

Didn't really need the roster spot and won't save much cap space.
Think this is probably about giving a respected vet a shot to catch on elsewhere sooner rather than later.
Maulet, who served as the Steelers' primary nickelback, was a significant contributor on defense and special teams during his time in Pittsburgh.
In the 2022 season, he achieved career-high numbers with 59 tackles, two sacks, an interception, and a forced fumble in 17 games. However, with the team's recent additions in the cornerback position, including signings in free agency and the draft, Maulet's spot on the roster became uncertain.
Despite his release from the Steelers, finding a new team should not pose a challenge for Maulet, as several teams, such as the Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Los Angeles Rams, have shown interest in him.
Over his six-year career, Maulet has compiled 183 total tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, three interceptions, and 11 passes defended across 67 games played. Photo Credit: Jessica Rapfogel-USA TODAY Sports
