NFL Rumors: New York Jets 'Not Close' On Extension With Superstar Defensive Tackle
The New York Jets have made some incredible moves over the past two off-seasons, and find themselves ready to make a big leap back into the playoffs in 2023, but for some reason, there's one major obstacle that they can't seem to get past right now.
That would be an extension with All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, and even after the likes of Dexter Lawrence, Jeffery Simmons and Daron Payne got paid this off-season, the two sides are 'not close' on an extension.
Given his contributions and importance to this Jets squad, it should be a deal done by the time training camp rolls around, but for now, it should be worrying for Jets fans that after all the good moves this off-season, the team still can't lock down their best defender long-term.Update: #Jets and All-Pro DT Quinnen Williams are Not close to a new contract, per ESPN's @RichCimini
