New York Jets Sign Undrafted Tight End

Undrafted free agent tight end E.J. Jenkins has signed a contract with the New York Jets, as reported by multiple sources.

Standing at an imposing 6-foot-6, Jenkins transitioned from wide receiver to tight end during his final year at Georgia Tech. Known for his exceptional physical attributes, he impressed scouts at his recent pro day with a sub-4.6-second 40-yard dash, a 32-inch vertical jump, and a 10-foot, 2-inch broad jump.

Jenkins' collegiate career spanned six years, starting at St. Francis University before transferring to South Carolina and eventually Georgia Tech.

His breakout season came in 2019 at St. Francis, where he set a single-season touchdown reception record with 13 scores. Despite facing challenges in adapting to higher levels of competition, Jenkins showcased his versatility as a dynamic threat, excelling in one-on-one matchups down the field.

Although the Jets' offseason moves have garnered attention, Jenkins' signing adds further intrigue to their revamped offense.

With a unique skill set and the ability to excel as both a wide receiver and a tight end, his versatility makes him a compelling prospect. Jenkins' contract with the Jets is worth $110,000 guaranteed, including a $100,000 guaranteed base salary and a $10,000 signing bonus.

Throughout his collegiate career, E.J. Jenkins recorded a total of 130 receptions for 2,769 yards and 23 touchdowns, with his most productive season coming in 2019 at St. Francis University where he tallied 39 receptions for 779 yards and 13 touchdowns. Photo Credit: Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports
