Los Angeles Chargers Running Back Gets New Deal For 2023
The Los Angeles Chargers have had plenty to think about this off-season, and one thing that has been at the forefront of their minds has been Austin Ekeler, superstar running back that has requested a trade, believing he wasn't getting the value he deserved for what he brings to the team.
Now, the two sides have amended his deal for 2023, adding up to $2 million in incentives for the upcoming season, allowing him to become a free agent at age 28 following this season in which they expect to compete for a Super Bowl in the AFC.
Last season, Ekeler was once again fantastic, rushing for 915 yards and 13 Touchdowns, while adding 722 receiving yards and another 5 scores, and if they are to make a deep run this year, they'll need him at his very best. After an off-season in which he requested to be traded, star RB Austin Ekeler is staying in LA and having close to $2 million in incentives added to his deal for this season, per source.
