Detroit Lions Sign Former Chargers Defensive Tackle

The Detroit Lions have made another offseason move by signing former Los Angeles Chargers defensive tackle, Christian Covington.

Despite suffering a torn pectoral muscle in Week 10 of the 2022 season, Covington has been actively working out since January, alleviating concerns about his participation in the Lions' offseason program.

During his tenure with the Chargers, Covington primarily served as a rotational player, specializing in run defense.

Across 20 games in Los Angeles over the past two years, he amassed a total of 64 tackles, including four tackles for loss and one sack.

Now at 29 years old, Covington brings valuable experience to the Lions' defensive line and is expected to provide depth in the upcoming season.

As he joins the Lions, Covington is poised to compete for a backup role on the defensive line, adding further depth to the team's defensive unit.
