Seattle Seahawks Release Veteran Guard
The Seattle Seahawks were once again fantastic in 2022 with a young defence and a rejuvenated offence around veteran Geno Smith, and unsurprisingly, it was the offensive line that paved the way for the majority of that success.
Today however, the team made the surprising move to release veteran guard Gabe Jackson, effectively saving the team $6.5M against the salary cap for 2023, which will no doubt help them as they look to build a winner for the future.
With Phil Haynes re-signed for the future, it made sense to cut their losses with Jackson at that price, but given his success and experience, there's no doubting that he'll have a solid market when free agency opens next week. The #Seahawks have released veteran G Gabe Jackson, saving $6.5M in cap space. Seattle recently re-signed G Phil Haynes and he's in position to take over the starting job.
