San Francisco 49ers Tried To Lure Veteran QB Out Of Retirement In 2022
The San Francisco 49ers had an incredible 2022 campaign, and even when both Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance went down, they were able to find success with rookie Brock Purdy at Quarterback, but it appears they weren't 100% confident when he first took over the role.
Shockingly, legendary Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has revealed that late in the season, the team pursued him for a comeback, and while he had some thoughts about it, he didn't see himself in anything other than black and gold.
Ultimately, the team worked well under Purdy, and while they needed depth come playoff time when he was injured, they are set for the future, and given Roethlisberger's time away from the league, it's unclear just how good he would have been for them.Former #Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger says that the #49ers pursued him late last season and he nearly considered a comeback. pic.twitter.com/Lh6jzFLisy
