San Francisco 49ers Sign Former Falcons Cornerback

The San Francisco 49ers have signed cornerback Isaiah Oliver to a two-year contract, according to multiple sources.

Oliver was a second-round pick for the Atlanta Falcons in 2018 and played for them for the first five seasons of his career.

Despite being limited to 16 games over the last two years due to a torn ACL, he has played well in the slot and has the potential to compete with Sam Womack for playing time.

Oliver's recent production has been impressive, with 37 tackles, one sack, one interception, and seven passes defended in just 12 games in 2022. His versatility and experience playing both on the outside and in the middle make him a valuable addition to the 49ers' defense.

With Joey Bosa and the rest of the defensive line wreaking havoc up front, the job is slightly easier for corners in San Francisco.

It remains to be seen how the 49ers will use Oliver, but he will likely see time in the slot and may also play on the outside. His signing adds depth and competition to the cornerback position, which should benefit the team as they look to build on their successful 2021 season.

Entering his sixth NFL season, the 26-year-old has recorded 203 total tackles, two sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, two interceptions and 34 passes defended across 62 games played.
