San Francisco 49ers GM Reveals Who Has The Edge In The QB Battle for 2023
Once again, the San Francisco 49ers were one of the best teams in the NFL in 2022, and while the defence will once again be at an elite level again in 2023, they'll need to work out the offence if they are to be genuine Super Bowl contenders.
The key to doing that is figuring out the Quarterback position, and it's expected that Trey Lance and Brock Purdy will do battle in pre-season for the role, but on Monday, General Manager John Lynch hinted in a big way that Purdy has the edge as of right now.
There's no doubting that at the back end of 2022, Purdy showed more than we've seen from Lance in his time in the NFL, and if he can get healthy in time to put together a full off-season, we could be looking at a very tough team to beat in 2023.#49ers GM John Lynch with biggest endorsement of QB Brock Purdy as starter yet: "I think Brock has earned the right with the way he played that he’s probably the leader in the clubhouse at that...if we were to line up, he’d probably take that first snap."
