Pittsburgh Steelers Re-Sign Cornerback
The Pittsburgh Steelers have re-signed cornerback James Pierre to a one-year contract.
The 26-year-old defensive back, who entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2020, had been a free agent for the first time this offseason.

Although the team did not offer him a tender as a restricted free agent last week, they have now managed to bring him back at a lower price.
In his previous three seasons with the Steelers, Pierre has accumulated 86 total tackles, two interceptions, eight passes defended, three forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery in a part-time role across 50 games played.
Hope the #Steelers bring back James Pierre.

He looked much improved when pressed into the starting lineup last year:
🟢 Allowed only 12 catches on 27 targets (44.4%)
🟢 59.2 passer rating when targeted
🟢 67.7 Coverage Grade, per PFF
🟢 6 STs Tackles
Solid CB depth. pic.twitter.com/QNcyoaV73c
Despite his solid numbers, he is expected to provide depth behind Patrick Peterson, Ahkello Witherspoon, and Levi Wallace in the Steelers' secondary and contribute to special teams during the upcoming 2023 season.
